player developmentĀ

Iowa Phenom BasketballĀ  - Our Curriculum

As a program, we truly believe that player development must be our primary focus. With that in mind, we have developed a tiered curriculum that is based on the typical age, emotional, and physical maturity of the individual player (similar to what happens educationally in your school district).Ā  We understand that all children grow and develop at different rates (some sooner, some later), so that is taken into consideration in our team formation and in discussions with parents and players.

Just one example of this would be a 7th grade player that has played competitive AAU level basketball since 3rd grade vs. a 7th grade player who is just starting competitive AAU level basketball. We strive to do what is needed for the best opportunity for successful growth and development for all players individually, and would look to team these two individual players with players of similar skill and experience, so in this example we would look to have these two individuals participate on different teams (having the more experience player play on a higher level of competition than the less experienced player).

By doing this, each of these individual players would receive an excellent opportunity for continued growth and development at a level that matches their need.
